VP & Industry Lead Analyst, Health Tech & Pharma Tech

We are seeking a VP & Industry Lead Analyst for Healthcare & Pharma to play a crucial role in our research and advisory services. You will be Outsell’s thought leader for the Healthcare & Pharma sector of the data, information, and analytics economy. Adept at advisory work, you are driven by curiosity and analytical prowess, skillfully connecting the dots to resolve complex problems and confidently navigate industry analysis and strategy challenges. Your role is to meet the needs of senior executives in the C-suite, providing strategic insights and effective decision-support. You are trusted, live our values, and are a can-do collaborator.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research Agenda: Understand Outsell client and prospective client needs; set research agendas to inform “where to play” and “how to win” decisions in the covered sectors through must‐have research and analysis, supporting CEOs and their teams with essential decision‐
  • Thought Leadership: Be a thought‐leader and maintain visibility in the covered market segments. Deliver presentations to senior‐level clients and at conferences, support press calls on hot topics and be a visible and respected expert in the field. Facilitate on‐site meetings with clients for delivery when necessary and travel as needed to ensure ongoing support and delivery of the business.
  • Consulting & Advisory: Identify opportunities for custom consulting projects in covered clients; collaborate with the Chief Analyst and other project architects to scope and price consulting work; deliver consulting deliverables, both independently, with other team members, and with consulting partners, depending on project staffing.
  • Market Developments: Review industry headlines and events; author routine Big Moves containing analysis of key events in the space and why they are relevant; complete vendor briefings and stay engaged with major industry developments.
  • Client Advisory & Client Care: Serve clients’ decision‐making through client inquiry privilege to provide data and top of mind insight on critical confidential issues clients face in/about covered segments. Proactively send information about developments and advice that coincides and serves those interests.
  • Business Development / Sales Support: Drive new and renewal client business and develop relationships through vendor briefings and by building and maintaining ongoing relationships with market participants; work with business development to achieve and support new and renewal revenue targets as an industry thought‐leader and rainmaker.
  • Peer Review: periodically review research and analysis delivered by other team members to ensure Outsell quality standards are met and the brand thought‐leadership prevails. 

 

Job-Essential Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in the information services industry, with a significant portion in a consulting or strategy role.
  • Proven track record of leading corporate strategy or consulting engagements and driving strategic initiatives that result in measurable client success.
  • Deep knowledge and expertise in information services; experience across multiple segments, including healthcare and pharma-related information and technology markets, as well as typical buyer segments.
  • Excellent communication skills through graphics, writing, and telling an analytic story or developing cogent analysis and proposals appropriate for a senior level audience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as charting and analytics tools such as ThinkCell, Tableau, and PowerBI
  • Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team; must be self-motivated and able to motivate others in a positive, constructive manner. 
  • Requires full understanding of functions and tasks and ability to prioritize and adjust priorities and manage projects on-time and with quality and as circumstances dictate.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a healthcare- or pharma-related field preferred.
 

 

 

Sr. Analyst/Director & Lead Analyst – Industry Benchmarks & Operating Practices

We are seeking a Benchmark & Operating Practice Analyst to play a crucial role in our research and advisory services. Reporting to the Chief Analyst and Product Officer, with a dotted line to our CEO and chair of our CEO Programs, this individual will be responsible for conducting comprehensive benchmarks and best practices studies focused on operating domains and issues in the technology, data, and information services industry.  This research will address critical needs of CEOs while cascading into other functional areas germane to their executive teams and key roles served (e.g. product, finance, talent.)

 The ideal candidate will bring analytical rigor and a strategic systems-thinking mindset to our team, helping Outsell and its clients stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute benchmarking studies and operational best practice research that provide actionable insights to Outsell clients.
  • Work with CEO and the Exec Advisors to complete ‘give to get’ research for our CEO members.
  • Develop frameworks and methodologies for assessing operational efficiency and effectiveness across various segments of the information services industry.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of benchmark and best practice studies, and “give-to-gets” including study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Engage with clients to understand their operational challenges and tailor benchmarking studies to address their specific needs.
  • Contribute to the creation of thought leadership materials, including articles and blog posts, that highlight key findings and trends from benchmarking activities.
  • Present findings to clients and at Outsell and other industry events, providing strategic recommendations based on benchmarking insights.
  • Support the business development team by providing expertise and content for proposals and client discussions related to operational best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in research, consulting, or a strategy role with a focus on benchmarking, performance analysis, or operational excellence. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Information Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • MBA or Business Degree preferred; BS/BA required.
  • Proven ability to design and execute complex research projects with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into visuals appropriate for executive-level audiences and that deliver strategic insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences and able to solicit interest in participation from the executives who participate. This is a position highly targeted to Outsell’s OLC Programs and engaging with member clients critical to the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Experience in the data, information services industry is highly preferred, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities it presents.
