Anthea Stratigos – May 19, 2016
We’re so excited about the launch of our newest event, Outsell’s DataMoney Conference, slated 1-2 February, 2017 in New York. The world is chock full of events focused on the tactics of data – data technology, data governance, data management, data science, data scientists, but increasingly the CDO (digital or data), the CAO, the Chief Innovation Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, are all dealing with monetizing data and the strategy of data because executing on tactics without a plan is like driving without a map. Becoming a data-driven enterprise and making sure data is the backbone of the modern enterprise is increasingly a C-suite agenda, and one front and center in the corner office. So, we’re designing DataMoney to address this need.
Increasingly leading enterprises ARE becoming data providers and intense data users to do what our research shows are several key things:
- Manage risk including compliance, supply chain and logistics
- Monetize customers
- Fuel discovery & innovation
- Inform human capital management
- Monetize or license data, or go so far as to build information offerings for commercial use
All of these data-centric areas are about the business of data and using data to drive the business. Increasingly data IS the backbone of the enterprise and enterprises are using data to make money or save money in any of these areas. And guess what Outsell has been doing for the past 18 years – advising data and information companies about how information is used in these areas. We have analysts in each and we track information consumption and how it’s used to save money, or make money. And now every enterprise is in the data business, so we’re extending our core competencies to an adjacent market, building off the work we’ve done with enterprise IM functions and our core working with information and data providers. Because now everyone in the universe is a data provider, a data maker, a data consumer and we are going to bridge worlds.
You see, in 2000 we said the Global 2000 would become the information providers of the future. And then every one of them had a website, everyone of them published direct to consumers or professionals. And that march continued as we tracked advertisers and how they moved their dollars into their own ‘publishing’ and direct to professional efforts. Now that’s extended further into the enterprise as IoT, machine learning, analytics, and the need for speed picks up. Publishing has migrated to real time data in real time, and it’s about harnessing data everywhere.
We are thrilled to be launching this event and bringing world-class leaders together to discuss DataMoney. We’re collaborating with Traction Technology Partners, who are world reknown in emerging technology and whose founders were behind DEMO and TechCrunch. We are thrilled to be working together, so that whether it’s data strategy down to picking the right emerging tech or data partners, we have a solution for the world’s leaders who know tomorrow’s agenda is about monetizing data in the enterprise and ensuring it truly is the backbone of the enterprise. It’s not about the pipes anymore; it’s about the water, and harnessing the water is what will make tomorrow’s enterprise engine run.
See you in New York!
