4GL School Solutions to Acquire Tranquility Solutions

4GL School Solutions, a provider of computerized management solutions for special education programs, recently announced its intentions to acquire rival Tranquility Solutions. More than $56 billion is spent annually on managing special education programs, a major component of which is writing and implementing an individualized education program (IEP) for each of the 6.5 million eligible students. Companies such as these two have enabled school administrators to significantly reduce the time spent managing IEPs while improving compliance by providing systems that automate the process.

Eduventures expects further consolidation within the industry segment, as well as vertical expansion by larger providers of more general enterprise software, due to the highly fragmented nature of the special education market.
