The first event, Industrial Automation, went live June 17 with two others scheduled for 2009. Outsell forecasts a recovery for in-person events, and we do not see a "live events are dead" sequel to the overly simplistic and under-informed "print is dead" movie. For those with in-person events, some of the event marketing spending has begun to be siphoned off to virtual events. The decision is whether to fight for a larger share of only the reduced in-person events spending pie, or to add on a parallel virtual events line of business.
