Scott Woelfel, President & CEO, Armchair Media
Scott Woelfel is an Internet pioneer and media veteran who has helped shape both the business strategy and consumer experience for online information. He currently serves as president and chief executive officer for Armchair Media, a company he founded in 2001.
Armchair Media is an Atlanta-based company that specializes in applying interactive content strategies to achieve business goals.
Before forming Armchair Media, Mr. Woelfel served as president and editor in chief of CNN Interactive. He was one of the co-founders who established CNN Interactive in January 1995 and launched CNN's first Web site, CNN.com, in August 1995. He was the architect of the product strategy behind the creation of the CNN interactive brand and its presence across 13 Web sites, a global mobile information service and various other brand extensions. In addition, Mr. Woelfel served as general manager and editor in chief of CNNfn.com, CNN’s financial news Web site.
Mr. Woelfel spent more than 15 years with CNN, beginning his tenure with the network’s flagship channel as producer and supervising producer. Prior to his time at CNN, Mr. Woelfel worked as a news producer at local television stations in Florida, Virginia, Oklahoma and Missouri. Mr. Woelfel graduated in 1981 from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
