Wikia, the for-profit wiki company recently started by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, has received investment from online retailer Amazon. The size of the investment has not been revealed. Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos said the company wanted to support the growth of user-generated content sites like Wikia because, "Amazon has always believed in giving the customer as much information as possible so that they can make the purchase that's best for them".
