Vivendi Universal has announced that it will pay E4bn ($4bn) for the 26% stake in Cegetel held by BT Group. The move raises its stake to 70%, and destroys Vodafone Group's hopes of taking control of the mobile operator. Cegetel accounts for a third of Vivendi's operating profit.
