Lagardere sticks to 2008 profit forecast

French media group Lagardere maintained its 2008 profit forecast after reporting core revenues down slightly further than analysts had expected to 8.214 billion euros ($10.6 billion). The world's biggest publisher of consumer magazines said revenue growth in the fourth quarter was sharply lower than the 4.1 percent like-for-like growth reported for the first nine months, due in part to the global economic crisis. Core media revenues were down 4.3 percent in 2008 as a whole, but rose 3.1 percent on a comparable basis, Lagardere said.
