Position Description


You can think big picture, and execute the details. You are the keeper of the Outsell brand and oversee that it is implemented consistently and brilliantly throughout the organization and marketplace. You are a unique individual who can go 'up and down the ladder' to oversee all aspects of Outsell's Product Management and Marketing and lead and manage a team to demonstrate incredible results.


This position will oversee the design and development of Outsell services and how they are manifested through all media, with specific focus on creating awesome digital (particularly mobile) experiences for our executive-level clientele. From design and development to roll-out, you and your team will make sure that every detail is tended to - market awareness and education, PR, target market and list targeting, collaterals and messaging, internal training and internal system readiness. You will have specific focus and oversight around the entire process: packaging, pricing, development, go-to-market tactics and implementation. You will be an active member of the leadership team working closely with the CEO and alongside the leaders of our data solutions and analytic team, our consulting team, our sales and admin/finance team, being responsible for the smooth and orderly development and delivery of products through to market launch.

Specific responsibilities for this very special person and very special role include:



  • Work with council chairs and Outsell clients to understand the persona and use case for our clients.

  • Create and maintain product packaging, pricing and product development roadmaps.

  • Development of a rolling 18-month product roadmap and cycles, quarterly execution against those cycles in an agile development framework with routine sprints that the organization can plan for, rollout, and execute in smooth, predictable cycles. Identifying and working with suppliers as/if appropriate.

  • Maintenance and management of internal product, packaging and price lists, including managing how we unbundle, and price reports at our commerce store.

  • Market awareness including C-Suite list oversight, maintenance and management, campaign development and execution via monthly newsletters, event marketing, word-of-mouth, and where/if appropriate search engine optimization.

  • Lead generation and prioritization for membership recruitment for our membership development team to ensure we fill 10 councils and have a non-competitive mix in each council of 20 and to drive Outsell Leadership Services recruitment.

  • Proactive public relations to Outsell's top 10 press for routine press quotes and ensuring Outsell is in the press.

  • Approving all uses of Outsell material when licensed for client marketing.

  • Ensuring consistent messaging and design through all products and services and manifestations of the Outsell brand in the market, to include:

    • Collaterals, web messaging, business cards, video communications.

    • Deliverable look and feel via reports, Insights, Headlines, presentations, and via our website, mobile, and in-person event delivery.

    • Creative copywriting necessary for all deliverables, market outreach, and report descriptions/marketing copy.

    • Retooling the way we deliver our offerings and re-invent a club-like interactive experience.

    • Email, phone answering and all mechanisms by which clients and Outsell interact.




You will also liaise with our head of Client Services to support the design and delivery of 'wow' client lifecycle management processes identifying and training touch points, what happens at those touch points, and that our service levels mirror our brand expectations and service promises.


You will oversee product technology, editing and publishing, our visual designer/web producer, and CRM specialist. You will help us determine if you require a marketing specialist or PR agency to assist with key goals and objectives. You will have a lean budget and are used to doing more with less and find that to be a fun and creative challenge. Making the case for ROI and ROE you'll have additional resources as needed, including the ability to hire summer interns or work with local universities for classroom collaboration on development you require.


Qualifications and Experience



  • BA or MBA with 5-10+ years demonstrated experience in a product management role, driving significant revenue streams.

  • The ideal candidate will have knowledge of strategic, product and tactical marketing and have been in a software, information services or related professional services business.

  • You are used to working with cross-functional teams to get the right things done effectively and quickly. You have led, made decisions, and have delivered results in an agile development environments and have history working with technology, web and creative teams.

  • You are an excellent communicator, pay attention to detail, and are a systems-thinker who can see the big picture and immediately turn around a cascade of events that go from development to market.

  • You are comfortable in a virtual environment spanning multiple time zones and have no problems being hands-on, in a can-do fast-moving environment.
