School Specialty Acquires Delta Education

School Specialty signed a definitive agreement on August 19, 2005, to acquire Delta Education from Wicks Learning Group for $272 million. The acquisition of Delta Education, a publisher of science manipulatives and other curricular materials, provides evidence of the increasing attention being given to the K-12 science instructional materials market segment by publishers. This growing awareness stems from the impending federal mandate to begin testing students in science starting in 2007.
