Understanding K-12 Enterprise Solutions from the Users' Perspective
On January 7, 2005, the U.S. Department of Education published the National Education Technology Plan 2004. The plan stresses the importance of technology as imperative to realizing NCLB’s initiatives. Specifically, one of the report’s recommendations states that integrated data systems are necessary to better allocate resources, maximize efficiency, and accurately assess student success.
In Understanding K-12 Enterprise Solutions from the Users’ Perspective, Eduventures asks the important question, what progress has been made towards realizing this initiative? In this report, Eduventures provides a qualitative evaluation of the K-12 enterprise systems marketplace from the perspective of the users of those services and solutions. This report was developed from interviews with K-12 educational leaders and describes the environment and practices of a subset of those responsible for procuring, evaluating, and using enterprise applications. It also discusses implications for suppliers selling products and services into this market.
