Authors: Outsell Client Services, Client Services;   Eduventures, Inc.

Higher education institutions continue to define strategic priorities and identify the many roles that technology plays in these areas. The Higher Education Survey on Leadership, Innovation, and Technology 2006 collected feedback from presidents, chief academic officers, chief financial officers, and chief information officers from colleges across the United States to explore these objectives, the progress being made against them, and how technology is being leveraged at these institutions.

By exploring market trends relative to prior years and projecting future marketplace dynamics, this report explores major areas of technology investments and senior administrators' perceptions of such technology through the perspective of leading institutional priorities. Building on our results from a similar survey in 2005, this year's study highlights several themes, which include technology's role in student learning outcomes and student retention, the use of data in institutional decision-making, and technology outsourcing. Through this analysis, the study identifies opportunities for technology and business processes to help institutions advance in achieving their key strategic objectives.
