Position Description

The Market Analyst for the Market & Information Technology Research industry will be a key member of Outsell’s vendor analyst team. This role will have direct responsibility for Outsell research relating to companies within the market research industry, with a main focus on market size, share and forecasting data. This role reports directly to the VP of Market Intelligence Services.

The Market Analyst will be responsible for maintaining a database of companies in the market research sector, including major company announcements, and conducting company interviews for market sizing estimates. The Market Analyst will advise senior-level clients about the market size, share, forecasts and key trends of the market and information technology research providers and their market on a worldwide basis.

This position will be an integral member of a team committed to delivering satisfied clients and top-notch research and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scan headlines, blogs and news releases of announcements relating to the companies in the segment.
  • Manage research projects and deliver regular analysis reports (Outsell’s Insights) based on industry trends and data analysis results.
  • Conduct vendor briefings with research information companies.
  • Track and update (in Outsell’s database) all companies in this industry and estimate the overall size of the market.
  • Market Sizing, Segmentation and Analysis – Work with publishers and information providers in the space to ensure Outsell provides information they can rely on.
  • Establish market segmentation for clients that is in concert with market research industry conventions.
  • Participate with other Outsell analysts in the industry forecast process.
  • Use appropriate secondary and primary research methodologies to support research agenda objective(s) (e.g., search databases and websites, conduct phone interviews, launch web surveys, mine and analyze large datasets).
  • Fulfill analyst and client engagement responsibilities for existing accounts within the industry segment.
  • Support building group best practices and processes.
  • Contribute regularly and collaboratively to colleagues’ research projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years as a market or competitive analyst, tracking and analyzing companies in this space, making and modeling market sizing estimates and forecasts.
  • Master’s degree preferred (e.g., Business, Marketing, Economics or Statistics).
  • Ability to produce top-quality written research reports and analysis for clients.
  • Proven results in building online interactive B2B communities with an emphasis on user-generated content creation and publishing.
  • Ability to analyze research results and transform this analysis into strong and clear graphics and business insights/recommendations.
  • Excellent writing, oral communication, analytic, and project management skills.
  • Strong interviewing and data analysis skills; proficiency with Excel.
  • A self-starter with superior attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently in an environment with multiple goals and projects while delivering quality work consistently and on schedule.
  • Flexibile, with a positive response to new challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong leadership and people skills; able to manage projects and processes.
