Position Description
Outsell, Inc. is looking for a detail-oriented, creative wordsmith who is accustomed to working with complex data and information. We are looking for an energetic, highly efficient Editor to copyedit and proofread Outsell reports, newsletters, presentations, and web copy to ensure both consistency with Outsell standards and clear, readable presentation of Outsell’s research and analyses. The ideal candidate has experience in the information industry and/or business report editing.
Key Responsibilities
- Copyedit Outsell research reports, marketing materials, and PowerPoint presentations. Work with authors to ensure that the copy is accurate, clearly written, grammatically correct, error-free, and compliant with Outsell style.
- Proofread deliverables after they are formatted; work with the production specialist to ensure top-quality final products.
- Edit, proofread, and post copy to the Outsell website.
- Keep up to date on key terminology within the information industry; own and update Outsell’s Style Guide.
- Work with analysts, production specialist, and IT to refine and optimize authoring, editing, and publishing processes.
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for an organized individual with excellent communications skills, great initiative, and an eye for detail. We need a flexible team-player with lots of enthusiasm to extend and develop his or her skills and apply them in a challenging, global business environment. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- At least 5 years as an editor in a business setting, preferably within the information industry;
- Detail-oriented; eagle eye for spotting typos; excellent command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
- Experience working with and editing data in text, tables, charts, and graphs;
- Excellent time-management skills and track record of meeting tight deadlines;
- Team-oriented, flexible, with a good sense of humor;
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a firm where most employees work in home-based offices;
- Familiarity with nuances of American English and British English;
- Experience with and desire to work with graphics in Excel and PowerPoint;
- Comfortable with technology; experience working with an online content management system;
- Experience with InDesign a plus;
- BA in English, Communications, or Journalism, or equivalent work experience.

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation includes a combination of base salary, variable compensation, and stock options. We offer health and life insurance, disability, and a 401(k) plan.
